Description

TIS_Divergence for NinjaTrader 8 detects regular divergences between price and any indicator you point it at through Input Series. Aim it at an RSI, MACD, CCI, stochastic, any momentum or volume oscillator in a lower panel, or a moving average on the price panel: the indicator finds the pivots of that series, connects with an arrow the two pivots that form a divergence, and prints an Entry Long or Entry Short triangle when the indicator and price disagree at their pivots.
Choosing the series
Input Series is the standard NinjaTrader parameter that defines where the indicator takes its data from, and here it is the heart of the product. Its default value is Close, so the first thing to do after adding TIS_Divergence is point it at the indicator you want to measure divergence against. With Close you would be comparing price to itself, and no divergence is possible.
Input Series lists every indicator available on the platform, not only the ones already on your chart. You can pick an RSI or a MACD and set its parameters right there, without having to add it to the chart first.
Recommended: keep the reference indicator in view
It is not required, but adding the indicator to the chart as well lets you see what the divergence is being calculated on. If you do, make sure its parameters match exactly the ones you set in Input Series: if they differ, you will be watching a different curve from the one generating the signals.
How It Works
The indicator identifies pivots on the selected series with two settings. Strength Left is how many bars to the left of a candidate pivot must be higher, for a low, or lower, for a high. Strength Right is how many bars to the right are needed to confirm it. Since a pivot only becomes valid once those right-hand bars have closed, every pivot, and any signal resting on it, confirms with a delay of Strength Right bars. That is the trade-off for stable pivots: once a signal prints it does not move or vanish, but it appears a few bars after the pivot rather than in real time on the pivot bar.
A bullish signal appears when the indicator makes a higher low while price makes a lower low between the same two pivots, which is a regular bullish divergence. A bearish signal appears when the indicator makes a lower high while price makes a higher high. The optional Use Pivot Limits filter lets you require the pivot to sit on a given side of a reference level before the signal is accepted: for example, only bullish divergences whose low pivot is below 50 on an RSI, or only divergences on the correct side of the zero line on a MACD.
Key Features
— Works with virtually any indicator on the chart through Input Series
— Detects regular bullish and bearish divergences, the reversal type
— Adjustable pivot sensitivity, with independent Strength Left and Strength Right
— Optional pivot level filter, to accept divergences only on one side of a reference level
— Arrow connecting the two pivots that form each divergence
— Pivot dots marking every confirmed high and low
— Entry Long and Entry Short triangles on the signal bar, which do not move once printed
— Signals exposed as plots for automation with Markers
Parameters
Parameter Description
Input Series The indicator series used to detect pivots and divergences against price. This is the native NinjaTrader parameter and must be pointed at an indicator on the chart, not left on Close.
Strength Left / Strength Right Pivot sensitivity: bars required to the left and bars required to the right to confirm it. A larger Strength Right gives more reliable pivots but a longer confirmation delay.
Use Pivot Limits Enables the two level filters below. Disabled, every divergence signals regardless of the pivot level.
Low Pivots Maximum Only low pivots below this value can generate bullish signals: for example 50 or 30 on an RSI, 0 on a MACD.
High Pivots Minimum Only high pivots above this value can generate bearish signals: for example 50 or 70 on an RSI, 0 on a MACD.
Draw Arrow Lines Draws the line connecting the two pivots of each divergence.
Bullish / Bearish Arrow Color Colors of the divergence lines. Triangle and pivot dot colors are edited in the Plots section of the indicator properties.
Who Is It For?
TIS_Divergence is built for discretionary traders who want a clean, confirmed way to spot potential exhaustion and reversal zones on their favorite oscillator, and for those building systems who need divergence events as stable signals. Since the input series is fully selectable, a single indicator covers many different divergence workflows, from the classic RSI and MACD ones to divergences on custom or volume-based indicators.
Automation ready with Markers
The Entry Long and Entry Short signals are exposed as plots so Markers can execute them with no manual intervention. Markers is not included in the price of this indicator and is sold separately.
